SMC BMC Design Award 2026 – Finalists Announced, Ceremony at JEC World in Paris

Earlier this month, the Jury of the SMC BMC Design Award 2026 selected the finalists from all submitted projects. The winners will attend the Award Ceremony at JEC World 2026 in Paris on March 11, where they will present their designs and receive awards.

The SMC BMC Design Award 2026 is the 5th edition of the European competition recognizing and promoting design excellence in SMC and BMC materials. This year’s theme is “Live Better, Live Green” – SMC solutions for improving quality of life.

SMC and BMC are composite materials ideal for producing lightweight and complex parts with strong structural performance and a high-quality surface finish. They are increasingly used across a wide range of industries and applications.

Experienced Jury

The jury members for this edition were:

• Joan Montobbio (Chairman, SMC BMC Alliance, Menzolit)
• Éric Pierrejean (JEC)
• Joachim Froment (Futurewave)
• Andrea Ratti (Politecnico di Milano)

The jury expressed strong appreciation for the quality of submissions and is looking forward to meeting the finalists at the ceremony in Paris.

Meet the Finalists at JEC World 2026 in Paris

During the ceremony, finalists will present their projects to the global composites community attending the event.

Following the presentations, the Jury Chairman, Joan Montobbio, will present the awards to the winners.

SMC BMC Design Award

The award is open to design students and young design professionals (less than 3 years of experience) living in Europe.

Projects were evaluated by an independent jury composed of experts from both the design community and the composites industry.

The total prize value is €17,500, including:

• Gold Award: €7,500 + €7,500 coaching
• Silver Award: €1,500
• Bronze Award: €1,000

European Alliance for SMC BMC

The European Alliance for SMC BMC is an industry association that promotes the benefits of SMC/BMC composite solutions by:

• connecting key stakeholders across the value chain
• providing insights into typical applications
• explaining technical features and benefits
• supporting designers and engineers with design resources
• fostering knowledge exchange through events
